an acrylic painting background created from a simple drip technique.  prior to any drip process, i spread across the canvas in a very basic and primitive fashion just the basic colors that I want to present in the painting, to fill the canvas prior with some similar color.  afterwards, i load up an edge of canvas with pigments of various colors that i want in the piece, and using my fingers + a small water spray bottle, slowly start the drip process.  the entire time focusing on the shapes being created and tones spreading throughout, often for effect and splatter spraying the nozzle quickly and heavy into a specific spot of pigment if it seems to need more breaking up of the pattern/flow.

plan on painting a foreground to this piece soon, though wanted to share the piece as is cause I was very happy with the outcome of this one.  hopefully I don't mess it up with a bad subject.  ^_^ 

this painting will eventually end up in my coral/reef + oceanic life series paintings as originally planned, so expect perhaps an octopus or jellyfish.  ;D
